Calcium chloride test kits measure the Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER) from the surface of a concrete slab. Also called dome test kits, they use the Anhydrous Calcium Chloride Vapor Emission Method and conform to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F-1869 and F1907-04.

Calcium Chloride Test Kits measure the amount of moisture (MVER) emitted from concrete slabs. Each kit also includes a pH test kit to measure the alkalinity of concrete as required by ASTM and flooring manufacturers.

These Calcium Chloride Test Kits follow the latest ASTM F1869-11 “Standard Test Method for Measuring of Concrete Subfloor Using Anhydrous Calcium Chloride.” The Alkalinity Test meets and conforms to ASTM F710-11.

Place the small test dish with anhydrous calcium chloride on the concrete floor and cover it by a plastic dome. These domes use the strongest adhesive in the industry to ensure a tight seal to the concrete, which is essential for precise measurement. After 60-72 hours, cut out the test dish and weigh it on a high-precision scale (sold separately).

Calculate the moisture vapor emission rate (MVER) from the weight gain of the test dish at the end of the test. Most flooring manufacturers set the maximum MVER in the range of 3 to 5 lbs/1,000 sq. ft. in 24 hours.
