Note that basements or foundation slabs are the single largest source of humidity in homes, several times larger than cooking and showering combined. Most moisture seeps in as invisible water vapor. If the basement is still unfinished, seal the basement floor and walls against water and vapor with RadonSeal Deep-Penetrating Concrete Sealer. If already finished, you have to use dehumidifiers, which gets quite expensive in the long run.
